My CityPASS Experience: A $256 Loss
It’s NOT WORTH buying the CityPASS.
Reason 1: You can actually spend less by buying tickets to each attraction separately. I did the math, and the “original prices” CityPASS lists for the San Diego attractions aren’t accurate. They claim you can save up to 50%, but that wasn’t true for me. If I had bought the four attractions I used individually, I would have saved about $50 compared to the CityPASS price.
Reason 2: When you buy the full package, you really have to use all four attractions to make the deal worthwhile. If anything prevents you from using all of them, you lose even more money. In my case, I had nine days to visit four places, but because of bad weather in San Diego that entire weekend, I wasn’t able to visit the fourth attraction. That meant I lost $206 of value. I essentially paid $530 for three tickets. My total loss ended up being $206 + $50 = $256, which equals $256 of actual wasted value—about 48% of the pass’s worth.
I contacted the attraction directly, and they told me I needed to resolve the issue with CityPASS. I called CityPASS, and they told me to submit a refund request for a partial refund. I did—but the response I received said they would not issue a refund in my case. They claimed the fourth destination was optional and that I could have chosen a different attraction. The problem was that it was pouring rain in San Diego, and none of the remaining options in the package were usable in bad weather.
I used to think CityPASS was the way to go when I had visitors in San Diego. But no—it’s not. Stay away from it.

Affordable
CityPASS really helped me save money on amusement and activities for our trip to SoCal. My kids loved the zoo, Safari and SeaWorld. I would buy from CityPASS again in the future

100% Complete Waste of Time!
Purchased a ticket to Universal Studios Hollywood on 11/12/24 at 4:15PM to use the next day on 11/13/24. CityPASS had no problem taking my money then sending an e-mail my order is under review and that I must contact them via phone. However CityPASS works on Eastern Time so they were already closed. I'd have to wait to see what the issue is until 6AM my time on 11/13/24. We planned to be on the road at 6AM so no time to waste making phone calls.
I ended up making the ticket purchase directly from Universal Studios 10 minutes before we left our home on 11/13/24 at 5:45AM and the ticket was delivered to use immediatly.
All this hassle for a $2.00 discount! It is not worth the time! For those going looking to make a purchase for California attractions, be aware that (1) the discount, if any, is not much at all and (2) if there are any issues you have to deal with a company based back east on Eastern time.
